NAACP Community

An organization that has fought tirelessly on the front lines, behind the scenes, in courtrooms, town halls, and on school boards for the integrity and justice we, as Americans, hold so dearly.

Our efficacy, tenacity, and resolve is a historical fact and will light the way to a brilliant future.

We, at the Wilkes-Barre Branch, are always looking for the next rising stars and brightest gems; that’s you! We want you, not just to follow the group, but to join the party. You will have the opportunity to help us:

• Guide the community
• Build up businesses
• Fight for fair housing
• Ensure educational standards
• Work with the city to allocate funding to maintain programs
• Uplift your neighbor

Since the inception of the Wilkes Barre NAACP in 1930 we have been advocating for social, political, educational and economic equality amongst our community. Furthermore the branch seeks to eliminate racial prejudice among the citizens of our community. Whether it’s a grassroots campaign or public demonstration, the branch remains steadfast at the forefront when advocating for civil rights and social justice. The path to justice requires that we challenge federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and policies to ensure equal protection.
